چکیده

We report lifetime measurements for three of the 5d96p levels in Au II and relativistic multiconfiguration Dirac–Fock (MCDF) calculations of lifetimes and transitions probabilities in this ion. The work was motivated by significant disagreements between previous experimental 5d96p lifetimes, obtained by means of the beam–foil (BF) method and theoretical data based on Hartree–Fock calculations in which relativistic effects were included as perturbations. The new measurements, based on laser-induced fluorescence, support the BF data and are also in excellent agreement with the MCDF results. We confirm that, while computational methods which include perturbative relativistic corrections appear to be adequate for moderately heavy elements such as Ag, fully relativistic calculations are essential for describing systems as heavy as Au.

The FERRUM project: Transition probabilities for forbidden lines in [Fe ii] and experimental metastable lifetimes

Context. Accurate transition probabilities for forbidden lines are important diagnostic parameters for low-density astrophysical plasmas. In this paper we present experimental atomic data for forbidden [Fe ii] transitions that are observed as strong features in astrophysical spectra. Aims. To measure lifetimes for the 3d(G)4s a 4G11/2 and 3d (D)4s b 4D1/2 metastable levels in Fe ii and experime...

Lifetime measurements and transition probabilities in Mo II

Lifetimes have been measured using time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence for 16 odd levels in the doublet, quartet and sextet systems of Mo II, with energies in the range 48 000– 61 000 cm−1. Absolute transition probabilities and oscillator strengths are determined for 110 UV and visible transitions (208 < λ < 485 nm) from a combination of experimental lifetimes and theoretical branching fra...

Experimental and theoretical lifetimes and transition probabilities in Sb I

We present experimental atomic lifetimes for 12 levels in Sb I. The levels belong to the 5p2(3P )6s 2P , 4P , and 5p2(3P )5d 4P , 4F , and 2F terms. The lifetimes were measured using time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence. In addition, we report calculations of transition probabilities in Sb I using a multiconfigurational Dirac-Hartree-Fock method. The physical model was tested through compar...

بررسی ویژگیهای قدرت خط و نیروی نوسانگر اتمهای نقره و طلا با استفاده از نظریه تقریب کولنی

Single-valence electron atoms are an important class of atoms. Their oscillator strengths are their important properties. Knowing the oscillator strengths one can easity calculate the transition probabilities of the spectral lines and hence the lifetimes of energy levels of most atoms. The oscillator strengths of the spectral lines of most atoms are not knoen with sufficient accuracy due to t...

Fe II lifetimes and transition probabilities

Received Abstract. Fe II radiative lifetimes were measured applying the time-resolved nonlinear laser-induced fluoresence technique. We investigated 21 levels of up to 47000 cm −1. The uncertainties are typically 2 – 3 %. The lifetimes provide an improved absolute scale to our branching fractions which were measured with a Fourier transform spectrometer and a high–resolution grating spectromete...
